
Spring Clean Up Day / Cemetery
Clean-up

The club assists with the annual
community clean-up day by working in the Kenai Cemetery and has adopted
a mile of highway cleanup in the center of Kenai, from Home Depot to
the old Kenai Mall. Plus we serve food after the town clean-up day on a
Saturday each May |

New Project:
Huss Park Renovation |
The Kenai Lions have taken on the renovation and
conversion of a trail into a park like setting with stream, grass,
picnic tables, etc. Work will take several summers to complete. |

Kenai Lions Handicapped Park |
The club provided,
built, cleans and maintains the Kenai Handicapped Park, with trails,
picnic tables, and restroom, located at the old Kenai Municipal Park on
Forest Drive.. |

Bus Shelter Project / Ice Rink
Shelters |
The club members built bus shelters for
children, providing materials and labor. A fun construction project for
the members. They provided warming shed for winter recreation for youth
at the multipurpose ice-rink facility. |

Industry Appreciation Day Chili Cook-off |
Members gather and prepare Chili for this annual community event. Most
years the Kenai Lions win this competition. Best Chili on the Kenai. |

Lions Breakfast for Relay For
Life Participants. |
The club members provide breakfast for and participate in the annual
Relay for Life project sponsored by the local chapter of the Cancer
Society. All funds stay in our local area to assist those with breast
cancer. |

Recycle eye
glasses

The club members
collect and distribute eye glasses to needy children and adults
throughout the world via Lions International contacts.

The annual Rubber Duck Race is a
fundraising event that provides an opportunity to win money while supporting
local charity work. The raffle tickets are $5 and $
20. Winning numbers collect :

Kenai Lions Activities 2006-2007
* Old Town Children's Park – A small crew and two city workers completed cleanup for upkeep of the park and marked areas for sidewalk games on Saturday, August 5th. Hotdogs were served after the work was completed. Thank you everyone who made this project a success.
* Industry Days chili cook off – August 26,2006 our club came away with the trophy as the spiciest, the best and the peoples’ choice chili. The Peninsula Clarion did a two page spread regarding the event.
* Soldotna Lions Club Annual Bed Race - September 30, 2006, 2:00pm. Lion Grant and his brother Justin worked on designing the Kenai Lions’ bed for the race. Our bed tangled with the Kenai Peninsula College bed which resulted in our getting fourth place and the college team had to carry their bed over the finish line.
* International Peace Poster Contest - The next Kenai Lions Club meeting will be October 26, 2006 at the Kenai Senior Center for the poster contest from 5:30-8:30pm. The panel of judges are Sandra Lewis, Melinda Hershberger and Lion Grant.
* Mid Winter District 49A - in Kodiak, November 17-19, Wizard of Oz theme. Our club will have three voting representatives present at the event.
* District Governor Doc Myers visit - January 12-13, 2007. Zone 2 Chairman, Lion Phyllis reported that the Governor will visit all the local clubs and will install any new members. We may do a mission at the Challenger Center on Saturday.
