The Alaska Retired Educators Association is a nonprofit organization of retired educators whose purpose is to promote the professional, social and economic welfare of all educators.   AK-REA is a member of the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA). The Alaska Retired Educators Association is made up of local groups, referred to as local Units.  These local Units are spread throughout Alaska, and function with local officers and differing schedules based upon the local needs.
